Difference between active and passive noise cancelling

Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) and Passive Noise Cancelling are two different methods used to reduce background noise, but they work in different ways. Passive Noise Cancelling, also known as sound insulation, works by physically blocking background noise. This is usually achieved by using materials that absorb sound waves in the ear pads of the headphones. The design of the headphones, such as over-ear models that completely cover your ears, can also help block noise. Passive Noise Cancelling is most effective at blocking higher frequency sounds.

Active Noise Cancelling, on the other hand, uses advanced electronics to reduce background noise. Microphones in the headphones pick up ambient noise, and the headphones then produce an opposite sound wave to 'cancel' these sounds. Your new part will arrive the following working day. That’s usually less than a 24-hour wait.



Switch out the damaged part for the new one. Our headphones are made to be easily disassembled (it’s actually quite fun) but if you need help, just get in touch.



You’ll find a prepaid envelope along with the new part, so you can send the damaged part back to us free of charge.



The damaged part is checked to see if it can be lovingly repaired and reused in a new pair of headphones. If not, the materials are recycled.


All models come with a 30-day free trial. If you change your mind, just send them back to us.
